It didn't take long, no pun intended, for Mt. Hope High School star Thea Jackson to find her footing as the senior opened the 2025-26 indoor track and field season by setting a new program standard in the Huskies' first meet of the winter.
Jackson won the girls' high jump at the 2025 Injury Fund Relays meet Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Providence Career and Tech Academy Fieldhouse, bettering her own school record with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches. It was five inches more than she cleared in setting the old mark at the end of the 2024-25 indoor season.
"She has only had one day of practice and she cleared (5'6") on her first try. And she did it on tired legs because she decided to jump from 4'4" on," said MHHS head coach Renae Cicchinelli.
