A ship was evacuated after a fire broke out on board. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) was called to a fire aboard a freight ship under construction at the Cammell Laird shipyard in Tranmere on Tuesday night (December 9).

Crews were alerted at 8.23pm and arrived on site six minutes later. Six fire engines were on scene at the height of the incident. All staff at the shipyard were evacuated as a precaution while firefighters worked with onsite supervisors to set up water supplies and find the source of the blaze.
