LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, is calling it a ‘milestone investment’ an international electronics maker. The Taiwanese-based Foxconn Technology will invest $173 million to build a manufacturing facility in Louisville.

Foxconn is one of the largest manufacturers of electronics like TVs, gaming consoles and iPhones.

Leaders of the company’s U.S. division made the announcement Tuesday along with Greenberg.

The deal promises to create approximately 180 new jobs in the city.

“These are going to be incredibly advanced manufacturing jobs. That’s why they are good-paying jobs, and that’s part of our workforce that we’re working to build up,” Greenberg said.

Greenberg and Foxconn representatives aren’t ready to say which electronics will be assembled in Louisville.
