BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - National gas prices have dropped to under $3 a gallon, with South Mississippi closing in on $2 a gallon just in time for the holiday season.

The popular gas app GasBuddy says this is the lowest that national prices have been since May 2021.

David Harris drives his jeep all over the coast for work and said he’s been watching the numbers fall for months.

“Absolutely, I get to keep a little bit more profit this way,” Harris said. “They went back up and then they crept down about every 20 miles. Now I’m saving about a buck, so I’m okay with that.”

Moss Point resident Randy Porter said he spent more than $1,000 on gas this year. He says the low prices are giving his wallet a much-needed break.
