Tripura University has come under renewed scrutiny following a series of allegations involving nepotism, violation of recruitment norms, financial misconduct, and punitive action against a executive engineer. The developments have raised concerns over the transparency and functioning of the central university.

At the centre of the controversy is the appointment of a Consultant Engineer, reportedly chosen recently jointly by the Vice-Chancellor (In-charge), Prof. Shyamal Das, and Registrar, Dr. Deepak Sharma.
