MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - Hundreds of families will get a free ham during the holidays, thanks to Hy-Vee and Hormel’s Hams for the Holidays campaign.

Hy-Vee employees and first responders will hand out 200 Hormel hams at Hy-Vee Mainstreet on 6th Street at 4 p.m. on Thursday, according to a media release.

Officials said the event will go until 6 p.m. or until all the hams are given away. Each vehicle will get one ham to serve as many people as possible.

The Hams for the Holidays initiative aims to fight food insecurity and help families in need in communities Hy-Vee stores serve, officials said.
