Police in Guruvayur have arrested three men in connection with an online sex racket that allegedly ran through multiple WhatsApp communities and a network of agents across Kerala.
According to police, the gang used the WhatsApp Communities feature to manage their operations. This feature groups several chat rooms under one main community, allows admins to send announcements, and helps organise members into topic-based groups. It offers end-to-end encryption, hides phone numbers from non-contacts and provides tools like polls, events and file sharing, making it easier to manage large groups.
