The Montreal Canadiens just can’t seem to find any consistency in net.
Jakub Dobes was replaced by Samuel Montembeault after the Canadiens fell behind 3-0 following the first period against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. Dobes allowed three goals on 15 shots.
The Lightning were playing the second half of a road back-to-back after losing 2-0 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, while the Habs were idle Monday.
Dobes was coming off a game in which he gave up four goals on 18 shots in a 4-3 loss against the St. Louis Blues.
The Czechia native has overtaken Montembeault as the No. 1 starter due to the latter’s season-long struggles after cracking Canada’s 4 Nations Face-Off team last year.
But Dobes has fallen back to earth recently, with his goals-against average rising to .303
