Suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir has declared his intention to become a kingmaker in West Bengal's 2026 assembly elections by forming a new political party. On Tuesday, Kabir claimed no government could form without his party's backing, predicting that neither the ruling TMC nor the BJP would reach the 148-seat majority in the 294-member assembly.

Kabir's formal announcement of his political outfit is scheduled for December 22, potentially named the 'National Conservative Party.' The launch will occur at a public gathering of one lakh people at Berhampore Textile More. Kabir's stance has earned skepticism from the TMC, which labeled his political aspirations as "daydreaming."
