New Iberia boys basketball was looking for a challenge in its non-district schedule and it got just that with St. Thomas More coming to town on Dec. 9.
“I have a ton of respect for Coach Danny (Broussard), I’ve watched him from a youth up and he’s done a great job,” NISH basketball coach Colby Batiste said. “We have total respect for our opponent and we prepared for them.”
That preparation turned into execution as New Iberia pulled off a 54-47 statement win over the Cougars, who were the lone 337 team to finish as semifinalists in the 2025 LHSAA Boys Basketball Marsh Madness Tournament.
It was a team effort for New Iberia to snag its fifth win of the season, a win it will be looking to bottle up and carry with it as the non-district schedule continues to heat up.
