BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Blount County School Board is considering a partnership with the Elgin Children’s Foundation to offer Bible instruction to students during school hours.
The program would allow students to leave school grounds for one hour per month to receive Bible instruction at an off-campus worship site. The Elgin Children’s Foundation typically offers such programs for one hour per week, according to their mission.
“Where are we going to get our values from if we don’t take them from God’s teachings,” said Chris Pass, Blount County Board of Education chair.
The foundation would provide transportation to help students get to the worship site since religious instruction cannot be conducted on public school grounds. They’d also provide safety and security for the stud
