Lake Michigan College is getting a major boost to student support, thanks to a $650,000 state grant aimed at improving success from enrollment to graduation.
LMC is receiving the MiLeap College Success Grant from the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential to create a new Student Success Center. It says the center will bring academic advising, success coaching, wellness services, and help with basic needs into one location.
College President Trevor Kubatzke says many students struggle not because of ability, but because they don’t know where to turn for help. The new center will use data and early alerts to reach students before small problems become barriers, offering students academic advisors, success coaches, and support specialists.
