CANYON COUNTY, Idaho — Canyon County has selected Copper Quill Haven to operate shelter services within the county, replacing West Valley Humane Society after 14 years.
The Board of Canyon County Commissioners announced the decision Tuesday following a recommendation from a committee composed of leadership and law enforcement representatives from Canyon County, the City of Caldwell and the City of Nampa.
Two proposals were received in response to the county's request for proposals: one from Copper Quill Haven and one from West Valley Humane Society.
West Valley Humane Society has operated the Canyon County shelter since 2011.
"The county kind of was able to step back, and they relied on the nonprofit to run the shelter and run the operations, because the county didn't have any staff
