In what has come as a major blow to New Zealand, star pacer Blair Tickner was stretchered off from the Basin Reserve in Wellington on Wednesday after he suffered an injury to his shoulder during the second Test against the Windies. Reports suggest that he has dislocated his shoulder.
Tickner had earlier ripped through the Windies’ batting with a four-fer but injured himself in the 63rd over while trying to stop a four at fine leg. After chasing a flick from Tevon Imlach, he dived full-length near the rope and remained down, prompting immediate concern from teammates.
Medical staff from both the New Zealand camp and the venue treated Tickner on the boundary before he was stretchered off, sitting upright, to warm applause from the Basin Reserve crowd.
