A TikTok expert has shared details of the extremely rare penny that sold for £127,000 at auction

Brits could “retire today” if they find an old penny hidden amongst their coins. According to an expert, this sought-after piece could be worth as much as £127,000.

In a video uploaded to social media platform TikTok, an expert known as the Coin Collecting Wizard told people what to look for. This penny is particularly rare due to the fact that only an estimated six or seven were minted by the Royal Mint.

The reverse (tail side) of this precious penny showcases Britannia wielding a trident, while King George V's portrait is on the other side. This coin was not intended for use by the public as there was already a sufficient supply of pennies in use at the time.
