In a rare and unconventional event, a 28-year-old woman from Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh married an idol of Lord Krishna in a full traditional Hindu ceremony. Pinky Sharma performed all customary wedding rituals, including the saat phere, with the idol placed in her lap.

The following day, Pinky’s ceremonial send-off (vidaai) was held in keeping with traditional bridal customs, with villagers joining together to assume the role of her family. Her brother-in-law, Indresh Sharma, participated in the procession, symbolically acting as the baraati for Lord Krishna.
