Indian Railways has upgraded the Kamakhya Junction in Assam to support the upcoming Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express services. As part of the upgrade work, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone completed the electrification of both pit lines, enhancing operational capabilities.
The zonal railway has also built eight pedestals to facilitate Pantograph (Panto) and Roof Mounted Package Unit (RMPU) maintenance tasks necessary for Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat train sets, substantially enhancing maintenance capacity.
Periodic servicing of the advanced rolling stock will be safer, quicker, and more effective thanks to these installations.
In a statement, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), NFR, mentioned the major infrastructure upgrades at Kamakhya rail
