Breaking a world record is always difficult, no matter the feat. Most of the time, it takes sacrifice, courage, commitment, and maybe a dash of insanity for good measure.
For Vaughn Shafer, a former Hollywood stuntman, now blacksmith and artist who creates his own skateboards and motorcycles, it required everything he had when he set a world record of the fastest top speed, 82.4 mph, for a skateboard over a quarter mile on his custom-made 300cc, 2-stroke engine board at the Western Colorado Dragway.
There to chronicle his wild ride for their documentary, “Driven By Angels,” were Brett Buescher, Nick Costello, and a motley crew of brothers in arms like creative consultant Hart Houston and cinematographer Seth Becton.
Buescher, 37, and Costello, 38, have known each other their whole lives
