KOLKATA: Two persons who have been selling chicken puffs in the Esplanade area for years lodged FIRs on Tuesday alleging that a few men assaulted them, hurled religious abuses at them and threw away the food for selling non-veg items to those who had gathered for the mass recital of Gita on the Maidan on Sunday. Sk Riyajul, 50, one of the assaulted men, mentioned in the FIR that "eight-nine unknown people, including a disabled man," attacked him. Md Salauddin, 60, alleged in his FIR that "two-three persons" attacked him. A video of Riyajul being attacked went viral on social media.
