CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio is facing a messy 24 hours of changing wintry conditions starting late Tuesday night and lasting into Wednesday.

A burst of wet snow overnight into early Wednesday is expected to slow the morning commute across much of the region, with another round of snow possible just in time for the evening drive. Rain is likely in between as temperatures briefly rise.

After a quiet Tuesday evening, precipitation will spread back in from the west very late. Temperatures will hover in the upper 20s and lower 30s inland and a bit warmer along the lakeshore, allowing much of the first wave to fall as wet snow, especially across the higher terrain east and southeast of Cleveland.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Cleveland expect a three- to six-hour win
