An ex-racehorse found in an 'emaciated' condition only months after his last appearance on the track is ready to be rehomed.
The eight-year-old thoroughbred called Dash was rescued from Ballinasloe Fair by inspectors from the Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) in October 2024.
Through a microchip, it was discovered the 16.3hh gelding made his final appearance on the track that July and had won more than €20,000 (£17,438) in his career.
Enquiries made by the ISPCA suggested that he was sold on and used for trotting before he ended up at the fair.
