UK government has issued an update following Australia's ban that starts today
Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Lisa Nandy has issued an update regarding the possibility of the UK government following Australia's lead and implementing a social media ban for users under 16. Talking to TV host Sophy Ridge on Sky News this morning (December 10), the Labour Member of Parliament (MP) said: "Young people are really struggling".
Australia has introduced a new law, the first of its kind in the world , which prohibits children under 16 from using major social media sites. This law took effect today, and it is up to social media companies to ensure it is followed, not the kids or their parents.
The ban applies to ten major platforms, including Facebook , Instagram , Snapchat
