CROSS CITY, Fla. (WCJB) -Multiple illegal slot machines were seized in Dixie County following a major joint operation by state and local law enforcement focused on illegal gambling setups.
The Florida Gaming Control Commission, along with the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office and Cross City Police, executed two search warrants yesterday at the Boondock Café in Cross City and Dixieland Delight in Old Town after both locations were suspected of operating illegal slot machines.
In total, law enforcement seized 49 machines and more than $6,800 in suspected gambling proceeds.
Two individuals were arrested during the operation.
Sheriff Darby Butler stated that businesses installing these machines are putting themselves at risk, as they are not legal in bars, restaurants, or stores in Florida.
