Mackenzie Blackwood made what was likely the shortest goaltending appearance of his career on Tuesday.
The Colorado Avalanche‘s starter in the game, Scott Wedgewood, was removed by the NHL’s concussion spotter after Filip Forsberg collided with his head during the the Nashville Predators‘ second shootout attempt.
But not before Wedgewood remained in the game to face the third shooter, making a save to keep his team’s shootout deficit at 1-0.
Blackwood then skated out to the crease, stood, and watched as Gabriel Landeskog missed Colorado’s final attempt, ending the game before he could face a shot.
Forsberg, who was briefly teammates with Wedgewood last season in Nashville, appeared to catch an edge and fall as he went to his backhand while bearing down on the net, barreling into the go
