The critically noted historical drama Freedom At Midnight is returning with its second chapter early next year, continuing its deep dive into the turbulent period that followed India’s Independence. SonyLIV has announced that Season 2 of the series will premiere on January 9, 2026, taking the story forward from the events that led to the Partition of the subcontinent.
Based on Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins’ celebrated non-fiction book, the series is produced by Emmay Entertainment in association with StudioNext. The upcoming season shifts focus to the immediate aftermath of 1947, when newly formed India and Pakistan grappled with drawing borders, political uncertainty, and intense negotiations over key regions.
