In a social-media post on Thanksgiving Day , President Donald Trump said that most of those who are foreign born and living in this country “are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.”
The fact is that the U.S. Census reports that nearly 70% of the foreign-born here are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. What’s more, immigrants have been awarded 45 of the 112 Nobel Prizes won by Americans in chemistry, medicine, and physics since 2000, as Forbes reported .
