Eleven cadres of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), including four who laid down their arms, surrendered before Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Shukla in Gadchiroli on Tuesday.

The Maharashtra government had announced a total cash reward of Rs 82 lakh on the surrendered cadres, including divisional committee members Ramesh alias Bhima alias Baju Guddi Lekami and Bhima alias Situ alias Kiran Hidama Kowasi.

Lekami, who has been associated with the movement since 2004, was the president of the Edasgondi Gaon Panchayat Janatana Sarkar and worked as a divisional committee member after being transferred to the Bhamragad local organisation squad. Kowasi was recruited in 1998 and worked as a divisional committee member after 2019.
