St. Michael Catholic star receiver Brody Jones has one initial thought about his high school coach returning to the NFL.
“Dude still has it,” Jones said Tuesday afternoon.
That “dude” is Philip Rivers, who has joined the Indianapolis Colts as a member of the team’s practice roster after injuries to starting quarterback Daniel Jones and backup Riley Leonard.
Rivers turned 44 on Monday and hasn’t played in the NFL since the Colts’ playoff loss to Buffalo on Jan. 9, 2021. Rivers spent the last five years coaching the Cardinals, whose 2025 season ended two weeks ago with a loss to eventual state 4A champion Jackson.
