Beating Demarest is something that Tenafly takes a ton of pride in.
Especially after what transpired last year.
A one-second victory in the 400 freestyle proved to be the difference in Demarest’s 86-84 win over Tenafly last year.
The Tigers haven’t forgotten that, and they came into this meet with a chip on their shoulders.
Thanks to a pair of 1-2-3 sweeps and 10 overall race wins, Tenafly moved to 2-0 on the season with a dominant 126-43 win over a contending Demarest team that was missing a few key swimmers on Tuesday.
“(Demarest) is our rival down the street for every single sport,” senior Matthew Collado said. “It’s a lot of fun, a lot of familiar faces, and it just feels great to pull off a win because bragging rights are great. We have a lot of friends (at Demarest).”
