The British soldier who lost his life while on duty in Ukraine has been named as Lance Corporal George Hooley of the Parachute Regiment. ‌

Lance Corporal Hooley , 28, was killed in a “tragic accident”, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said yesterday, while observing the testing of a new defensive capability, reports the Mirror. ‌

The death took place away from the front lines of the conflict, the government confirmed, adding there had been no other British casualties as a result of the incident. His death was reportedly not caused by hostile fire. ‌

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said in a statement he was sending his "deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of the member of our armed forces who sadly lost their life today".
