The BlueCo consortium that owns Chelsea has agreed to sign Mohamed Zongo, with the 16-year-old prodigy to first join Strasbourg after his 18th birthday and potentially Chelsea further down the line.
Standard Sport has been told that when Zongo turns 18 in November 2027 he will be available to join Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club, from January 2028.
He will be monitored by Chelsea staff during his time in France, as well as before the move, with an eye to becoming a Chelsea signing of the future if he continues to progress.
Zongo starred for Burkina Faso on their run to the quarter-finals of the Under-17 World Cup. The midfielder, who currently plays for Sporting Football Cascades, scored the winner as his nation stunned Germany in the round of 16.
