Australia has banned social media for children and teenagers under the age of 16, with parents now supporting tougher measures in the UK.

This world-first ban down under came into effect yesterday (December 9), with dozens of companies being required to enforce the new rules in the country.

Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, Snapchat, Kick, Twitch, TikTok, Reddit and YouTube are just some of the organisations impacted by the new legislation.

Now, a survey by Uswitch Broadband looked at how UK parents feel about a proposed social media limit for children, and two-thirds (66%) said they support a daily two-hour cap.
