Light snow and freezing rain will create hazardous travel conditions today in northwestern New Jersey, as forecasters track the chance for more widespread snow this weekend.

“While most of the region will have some rain by later today, some snow/ice is expected across parts of eastern Pa. and northwest N.J.,” the National Weather Service said early Wednesday. “Some uncertainty for the I-78 area as it will depend on how quick the precipitation arrives through today.”

Precipitation will develop late this morning across northwestern portions of the state, starting as snow before transitioning to a wintry mix.
