PARADISE, Calif. - The Paradise Town Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday night to discuss potential changes to backyard animal ordinances. The council considered increasing the number of chickens and rabbits allowed per property.

Previously in September, the council asked staff to evaluate the current ordinance, which would permit unlimited hens and reduce the setback for chickens from 75 feet to 20 feet. After review, the Paradise Planning Commission recommended allowing unlimited hens on any residential property and reducing the setback to 40 feet from any home.

Additionally, the commission proposed allowing up to 12 rabbits on properties less than one acre and up to 36 rabbits on properties an acre or larger. They also suggested permitting one rooster on any residential pro
