A small plane crashed into the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in central Florida on Monday night.
The plane lost power in both engines and struck a car, sending one person to the hospital, officials said.
"All of a sudden the front wheel hit the car, just came crashing down, sparks flying, debris everywhere," said James Coffey, who witnessed the crash.
The plane skidded to a stop after slamming into the median. The female driver was able to get out of her Toyota Camry.
Pastor Bernard Wigley and his wife Annie were among the first to the scene.
"It was so bad that it was the only place that she could have survived. If she had had other passengers, they would have all been smashed," Wigley said.
Annie Wigley is a nurse and was able to quickly offer aid to the driver of the car.
