The Who frontman Sir Roger Daltrey said receiving a knighthood is both an “incredible honour” and a “dream” for someone from his background.
The singer, 81, who launched and curated the Teenage Cancer Trust’s Royal Albert Hall concerts, has been honoured for his for services to charity and to music.
Sir Roger told the Press Association after the investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday that he is accepting the honour on behalf of those at the charity.
He said the knighthood is an “incredible honour”, adding: “For me, it’s a double honour because I’m getting it for my work with Teenage Cancer Trust.
“So personally it’s wonderful.
“But for Teenage Cancer Trust, I’m accepting it on behalf of all those people who may never get an honour and without whom we never would
