The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah has been released from prison after serving nearly three years for her role in a telemarketing fraud scheme, according to People. The 52-year-old was initially sentenced to 78 months in January 2023, but her sentencing was reduced several times.
Let's get into what we know on Shah and her next steps.
Who is Jen Shah?
Shah rose to stardom by appearing in the first three seasons of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which premiered in November 2020. She's married to Utah special teams coordinator Sharrieff Shah and the pair has two children, Sharrieff Jr. and Omar.
Why was Shah in prison?
With the help of her assistant, Stuart Smith, Shah allegedly ran a telemarketing fraud scheme targeting people ages 55 and above. The scheme allegedly offered a tutoring course in preparation for a sales position, but Shah and Smith are said to have sold the victims' contact information to telemarketing companies that, in turn, tried to sell them business services.
What has Shah said about her actions?
"I am sorry. My actions have hurt innocent people," Shah said at her sentencing on Jan. 6, 2023, per People. "I want to apologize by saying, I am doing all I can to earn the funds to pay restitution."
Where is Shah now?
One of two places. According to information from the Bureau of Prisons obtained by People, Shah is either in a halfway house or in home confinement. Clarity on her exact whereabouts could very well come soon.
