(KRON) -- A Windsor woman faces animal cruelty charges after police found dozens of dogs confined to her garage in poor living conditions on Tuesday, according to authorities.
Windsor Police Department officers were conducting a probation compliance check of 35-year-old Christina Urrutia at her residence in the 7000 block of Hastings Place when they made the discovery. Officers counted 28 dogs, ranging from puppies to adult mixed-breed terriers, at the home.
“A walkthrough of the garage revealed poor and unsafe living conditions, including an abundance of fecal matter, soiled bedding, limited or no food available, and dirty water,” Windsor PD wrote. “Three dogs were found crated with heavily soiled bedding, and one adult dog was observed with a large, open laceration above its right eye.
