A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape with police urging anyone who may have seen a teenage girl to come forward.
Northamptonshire Police said it wanted to contact person who spoke to the teenager at Morrisons, in Oxford Street, Wellingborough on Tuesday evening.
A statement from Northamptonshire Police read: "Detectives investigating an allegation of rape in Wellingborough are appealing for a member of the public who spoke to the victim, to get in touch.
"Were you at Morrisons in Oxford Street, between 5.10pm and 5.20pm on Tuesday, November 11? If you spoke to a teenage girl inside the supermarket, please contact Northamptonshire Police as a matter of urgency.
"A 61-year-old Wellingborough man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.
"In addition to tracing the member of the public who spoke to the victim, detectives would also like to hear from anyone who may have also seen the teenage girl at the supermarket on November 11 or in Bassetts Park on November 10.
"Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
