WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Homeland Security announced a planned rule change Tuesday that would require foreign tourists to submit social media information from the past five years as part of an Electronic System for Travel Authorization application for entry into the United States.
The announcement came through a post on the Federal Register, and the public has 60 days to submit comments on the planned change.
The document on the Federal Register said that the change came about from a January 2025 executive order issued by President Donald Trump titled “Protecting the United States From Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats.”
