Koylton Township, Mich. (WNEM) — A shootout in Tuscola County ended with one man dead and a sergeant injured.
Michigan State Police troopers and a sergeant from the Caro post responded to a residence to pick up a 54-year-old man on a mental health order signed by a judge.
According to the investigation, MSP personnel arrived at the scene at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, and encountered the man in a car. During the encounter, the man had a weapon and shots were fired.
The sergeant was shot in the hand. He was treated at a hospital and released. The 54-year-old man died at the scene.
The Michigan State Police Investigative Response Team and the MSP Crime Lab responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
