A Baker High School teacher was arrested Wednesday after a loaded gun was discovered in his classroom in a laptop bag, Baker Police Chief Carl Dunn said.
Cameron McMorris, 24, was about to give his students an online test, Dunn said. When he pulled his laptop and cell phone out of his backpack, another employee in the classroom saw the butt of a gun in the bag and reported it to the office, Dunn said.
The school resource officer was contacted, and Baker Police responded to the scene.
McMorris 24, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish jail on the federal charge of carrying a weapon in a firearm-free zone.
Baker High School is a charter school run by Helix Community Schools.
