An unmarked King County Sheriff’s Office vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Monroe, the Monroe Police Department confirmed.
Officials stated that a 26-year-old woman was hit in the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 2, near the 18800 block, at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
She later died at a hospital. The driver, a sheriff’s office employee, is cooperating, as of this reporting.
“Their vehicle was taken to the Monroe Police Department for further examination and analysis,” the Monroe Police Department stated. “The Monroe Police Department is leading the investigation, with support from the Washington State Patrol.”
The collision led to a three-hour closure of the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 2.
