A fire in a plywood and wooden engravings factory in the early hours on Wednesday turned into a massive blaze that destroyed the entire premises and led to a roof collapse. It took the Rajkot Fire and Emergency Services (RFES) nearly nine hours to control the blaze. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
No casualties were reported as no workers were present in the factory at the time, a senior fire brigade official said.
The incident happened around 4:15 am at ‘Shiv Wood’, where plywood products and engraved carvings of deities are manufactured on the premises measuring nearly 4,500 square feet (500 square yards).
One fire tender from the Emergency Response Centre (ERC) soon reached Hadala village in Tankara taluka, around 20 km from Rajkot, towards Morbi on SH-24.
