TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The University of Arizona’s Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium turns 50 Saturday, December 13, offering free admission to celebrate half a century of science education. The center, ranked the fourth best planetarium in the country by USA Today , has undergone significant changes while maintaining its original mission to inspire scientific understanding.
“New seats... We now have 4K projectors that stitch an image together on the ceiling…an aquarium exhibit downstairs. We have marine science exhibits. We have entomology, aka bugs, and of course, space sciences,” Marketing and Communications Manager Nick Letson said.
