The shocking moment a small plane crash-landed on top of a car in Florida was caught on camera on Monday, Dec. 8.
The Beechcraft 55 airplane was carrying a pilot and a passenger when it experienced engine problems, police told The Palm Beach Post, part of the USA TODAY network. The plane came crashing down directly onto a 2023 Toyota Camry driving down Interstate 95 in Cocoa, Florida, around 5:45 p.m. on Dec. 8, smashing pieces of the vehicle as it landed.
The plane's occupants, both 27-year-old men, were uninjured, according to the Palm Beach Post. The 57-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Camry was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
FAA investigating plane's highway crash landing
Video captured from a car behind the Toyota shows the plane's rapid descent toward a busy roadway. Remarkably, the aircraft lands perfectly on top of the vehicle, then bounces twice before sliding onto the pavement and skidding to a stop in a cloud of sparks.
"Oh my goodness!" the cameraman is heard saying in the video, "A plane just crashed onto a car on a highway!"
The Florida Highway Patrol and federal authorities with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the incident.
