Not long after navigational buoys were plucked from the waters of Petty Harbour, the situation has been reversed, says the president of the harbour authority.
Reg Best said he discussed the problem on Friday with local fishermen, and everyone agreed the buoys should be put back in the water because people are still fishing. Following the meeting, he said, the harbour authority was in contact with the coast guard.
“We’re hoping they’ll be back this week,” Best told CBC Radio’s The Broadcast .
He said the contractor is deciding if they will bring back the seasonal buoys or place permanent buoys.
“Even if they are seasonal, we’re hoping that they’ll be in place prior to the start of any fishery and they won’t be removed now until any commercial fisheries are finished for the year," Best
