PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A man who was set to go on trial for killing a 17-year-old in Portsmouth has changed his plea from not guilty to guilty.

Pharondus Clemon is accused of killing 17-year-old Jesse Hogg. Police said that a group of teenagers murdered him during a violent robbery on Sykes Avenue in December 2022.

Prosecutors said Clemon and others met with Hogg under the pretense of buying a gun. During the encounter, someone in the group tried to grab Hogg's gun. Hogg was able to break away and began reaching for his gun, at which point Clemon admitted to shooting him.

In his guilty plea, Clemon acknowledged that after Hogg fell to the ground, he and another individual shot him again, at which point Clemon stole Hogg's gun and fled the scene. He put both his gun and Hogg's gun into a bo
