At 12:49 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service released a lake effect snow warning valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday 7 a.m. for Wayne and Cayuga counties.
The weather service describes, "Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 5 to 10 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce areas of blowing and drifting snow."
"Travel will be difficult. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes," describes the weather service. "Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities."
