The New York Mets are going to look pretty different when the 2026 Major League Baseball season gets here.

Former New York closer Edwin Díaz reportedly agreed to a three-year, $69 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. The bad news didn't stop there, though. On Wednesday, the Baltimore Orioles reportedly agreed to a five-year, $155 million pact with longtime Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan .

"Breaking: First baseman Pete Alonso and the Baltimore Orioles are finalizing a five-year, $155 million contract, sources tell ESPN," Passan wrote on X on Wednesday. "Alonso leaves the Mets to make a loaded AL East even better."

Alonso was a homegrown star in New York and is the organization's all-time home run leader at 264 long balls. But MLB.co
